LOVE TO GOD

1 John 5:3-4 says, "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."

Do we claim to love the Lord? Then our actions toward what pleases Him will reveal the truth.

If we keep His commandments out of our pleasure to do His will from our hearts, then we know we truly love the Lord. There is no compulsion. The mere fact that we know something will please the Lord makes it our greatest pleasure to do it. That is loving God. "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."

A single glimpse of the Person of Jesus changed a Gadarene maniac into a saint. Look at MAR 5:6, "But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him." It is that blessed revelation of the Person of Christ that gives these new desires.

Our Saviour tells us how a faith's view of His Person draws the heart unto Him. JOH 3:14-15 says, "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life." This is what will cause us to say with David, "I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end,"

Amen.
