"And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of
holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring
men, though fools, shall not err therein," ISA 35:8.
Notice that as the result of the fall of Adam, there is no "way". Man has
fallen and become polluted in sin; and God, in His holiness and justice, cannot pardon
that sin.
God is too Holy to allow His justice to be marred. His justice requires that every sin
be punished with death; because He told Adam and Eve that in the day that they ate of the
fruit, "Thou shalt surely die," GEN 2:17b. Death was the penalty placed upon
sin, and man sinned.
We read in 1TI 2:14, "The woman being deceived was in the transgression."
Notice that the woman was deceived. We see so much deceit in our world today. Wherein was
the woman deceived? By the way of rebellion, she could become equal to God.
In GEN 3:5, Satan spoke to Eve and said, "For God doth know that in the day ye eat
thereof, then your eyes shall be opened and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and
evil," GEN 3:5b. Satan was telling her that she would then grow in knowledge, and her
eyes would be opened to know good and evil.
What happened next is told in GEN 3:7, "And the eyes of them both
were opened, and they knew that they were naked." This brought a gulf between God and
man; there was no way. But our text says, "And an highway shall be there, and a
way...."
God took reasons out of Himself to make a way; and though His justice
demanded that not one sin could go unpunished, yet God the Father from eternity looked
upon His people, His loved ones, and made a way.
