Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the
joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame.... HEB 12:2-3
We are admonsihed to look unto His blessed FAITH. We are to look to the faith of the
Lord Jesus Christ as the object of our faith. This is what we want to notice. Now we
understand what Jesus went through.
Now we understand who Christ suffered for and how it brought about that perfect
submission. Now that we understand what that perfect submission was, how does that reveal
itself in our hearts?
We must look to Jesus, lest we should become weary and faint in our minds. Lest we
should think that it is too big a price to pay for walking in the ways of the Lord. Lest
we should become discouraged and should faint in our minds.
ROM 8:29 tells us, "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be
conformed to the image of his Son...." If we have not that Spirit of Christ, if we
have not been conformed to the image of Christ, we're none of Him.
We must be conformed to that perfect image of Christ. We must understand how the Lord
Jesus Christ gave Himself in such perfect submission.
PHI 3:10 tells us, "That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and
the fellowship of his sufferings...." We have to be brought under the fellowship of
that suffering, that crucifying of that old man.
We must crucify the carnal desires, those carnal envyings and strivings that are within
our hearts. It says, "...and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable
unto his death."
What does it mean by being made conformable to His death? ROM 6 tells us, "And he
died once unto sin." We have to die unto sin. We have to die unto all these carnal
things. "...being made conformable unto his death," we look unto Jesus, the
author and finisher of our faith.
