CONFUSION: The Curse of Rebellion

The Lord had just delivered Noah and his descendants; they had just been through the great flood and saw the great destruction that had come upon the earth for rebellion against God and the authority of His Word. Now we see that as they began to increase and multiply, rebellion set in again. This message will center around the curse of the broken law which came upon the face of the earth for rebellion. We first saw this curse in GEN 3 pronounced upon the woman. GEN 3:16 says, "Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee." The curse of the broken law is confusion. Look at the confusion resulting from "and thy desire shall be to thy husband." The word "desire" as set forth in the Hebrew dictionary means a burning, yearning desire to overflow, to run over the top of. Yet he will rule over you. See the automatic state of confusion that would result from such a relationship! That state of confusion is the curse of the broken law!

Now in Genesis 11, we find that right after the flood, God again sends confusion as His curse upon the rebellion of those who refused to obey. After the flood, God said, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth," GEN 9:1. The Lord’s command to the people was to replenish the earth. They were to scatter over the face of the earth and replenish it. God would multiply them so the whole earth would be replenished. Instead, we see in GEN 11:4 that the people said, "Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth."

They planned to build a tower high enough that no matter how far they would go, they would still be able to see the tower and find their way back, lest they become scattered. They were planning to do the exact opposite of what God had commanded them to do. They were going to make a way whereby they could stay together and never become scattered.

In GEN 11:6 we read, "And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do." There was harmony of purpose, harmony of thinking, and harmony of language. The problem was that all this was not in harmony with God’s command or His will. All their plans were in defiance of the revealed will of God. God had told them to go out and replenish the world, but they made their plans, lest they become scattered.

When God saw their rebellion, He said in GEN 11:7, "Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech." The Lord came and brought confusion by confounding their language. The confusion broke the harmony they had established. The Lord brought this confusion by sending the curse of the broken law to break their oneness of purpose in rebellion against God’s clear command; they no longer were able to complete their work because they were not able to understand each other’s speech.

What happened? Their speech sounded like they were babbling to each other. No one could understand what the other was saying. There were different languages among the families and groups. The harmony of their language was broken.

The confusion which God sent for their rebellion gives us the meaning of the word babble. GEN 11:9a says, "Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth..." This Hebrew word "Babel" translated into English means "confusion."

Ever since Adam’s fall into sin, confusion has ruled as king in the hearts of the children of men as the result of the curse of the broken law. We can see this in Satan’s counterfeit bride of Christ. We can still see this confusion, this curse of the broken law, which Satan uses to mislead his counterfeit bride of Christ into thinking she can be washed in the blood of Christ without repentance. The gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ begins and ends with the word "repent," Cf. MAT 4:17; MAR 1:14-15; and LUK 24:46-47. Notice how Scripture clearly teaches that gospel repentance is what leads to remission of sin. HEB 10:16-17 says, "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them [These who delight to do the will of God are proper candidates for remission of sin.]; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more."

Satan’s gospel leads his counterfeit bride of Christ to think she can be saved in her sins, instead of from her sins. The angel told Joseph, "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for [or because] he shall save his people from their sins," MAT 1:21.

In REV 17:5 we read, "And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." Mystery Babylon. When we go into the original, the word "Babylon" is a Greek word for the Hebrew word "Babel." It is not an English word. Our English translation of the Greek word "Babylon" is also "confusion."

Did you ever stop to think what a mystery it is to see all the confusion there is in the world today? The more educated and learned in human wisdom we are, and the more technology advances, the more confusion we have. Why? The more people rely upon human wisdom, the further they stray away from God. The mystery of why all the confusion can be traced back to God’s judgment of confusion for forsaking Him and His revealed will. Until we understand that it is the curse of the broken law, it will remain a mystery to us.

Many people believe that this "MYSTERY BABYLON" means Rome. A thorough search of the true meaning of the words will reveal the error in such private interpretation. Satan’s gospel of salvation without repentance has brought God’s judgment of confusion into many of the counterfeit churches of Christ today. This "MYSTERY BABYLON" clearly has a spiritual meaning; it is a spiritual confusion as to what constitutes salvation. Until we realize that "BABYLON" is the Greek spelling for the Hebrew word "Babel" which means "confusion," it is impossible to comprehend the meaning of REV 17:5.

To understand this prophecy, we must take each word in "MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH" into the original, one by one, to learn its meaning. Let’s examine the word "HARLOTS." It comes from the Greek word "porne" which means "a female prostitute." The Greek word for a male prostitute is "pornos." They are two different words. This distinction is very critical to the right meaning of this prophesy.

The word "harlot" is clearly symbolic of the harlot church, or Satan’s counterfeit bride of Christ who is living in all spiritual adultery and uncleanness. This church lives without any repentance, living as if there were no call for repentance, feeling securely saved in the blood of Christ. That is the harlot church or MYSTERY BABYLON that rules the world today. We do not need to point a finger at the Roman Catholics for this! The Protestant churches are violating the clear Word of God in 1TI 2:9-12, "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

The reason for this restriction is very clear! It is not because the women at that time were not learned as they are today, thereby making the Word of God of none effect in this matter. The clear reason is 1TI 2:12 "But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For [or because] Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety."

It is only as we come into subjection to God’s ordained way that we see the meaning of 2CO 3:17, "Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." When we live in the Spirit of Christ who humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross (PHI 2:8), we find liberty from the curse of the broken law. When the woman is willing to humble herself and become obedient to God’s divine command to submit to her husband, she will find true liberty! And what is that? That curse of a burning, yearning desire to overflow her husband will be removed.

The harlot church uses her own human reasoning to reason away the authority of the Word of God, allowing the natural woman to overflow the authority of the man to whom she is commanded to submit. The counterfeit bride of Christ runs after the god of this world in total defiance of the Word of God. She says she is a church, and she is preaching the blood of Christ; but she is the harlot church. She is living in spiritual adultery, worshipping the flesh, and yet claiming to be cleansed in the blood of Christ. The MYSTERY BABYLON. THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS. That is why we must understand that the word "harlot" is a female prostitute. It is the counterfeit bride of Christ living in spiritual adultery and uncleanness.

We can clearly see in our day "...the wrath of God revealed from heaven against [our nation by all the confusion He has sent for our] ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness," ROM 1:18. Ungodliness is every violation of the first table of the law, to love God above all with our heart, our soul, and our minds. Unrighteousness is every violation of the second table of the law, to love our neighbour as ourselves. So God’s wrath is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness which includes this day and this nation for these sins.

What was the sin of Sodom? The usual answer is sodomy, but that is not true. The true answer is in EZE 16:49. "Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy." That is the sin of this nation, and it has been for years: pride, fullness of bread, haughtiness, entertainment, serving the god of flesh, and putting the Word of God under our feet. Why? There is so little love for our fellow man; so many are serving the god of self.

We can see how the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against our nation by the confusion He has brought upon us as a nation for this very same sin. This nation is filled with confusion, and therein is the wrath of God revealed, in the fact that He has brought confusion upon the face of this land.

In ROM 1:25-28 we read, "Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. [That is the sin of Sodom; it is the sin of this nation. It is the same sin we read of in GENESIS 11. They were going to do their thing, being as God and deciding what they would do or not do.] For this cause, God gave them up unto vile affections [See the judgement of confusion God sent upon Sodom for serving the creature more than the Creator.]: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient."

In Sodom, the people had idleness, fullness of bread, and pride. The curse, the judgment that God sent upon them, was confusion. In their confusion, they embraced vile affections. God gave them over to a reprobate mind. What is a reprobate mind? It is a mind void of sound judgment. Do you see the confusion that God sent as His curse of the broken law? It is a state of confusion. The mystery of Babylon, the confusion of what is right and wrong, becomes the king of the earth.

To rightly understand the confusion we see ruling our nation and the world today, we must also have a right understanding of the word "MYSTERY" in REV 17:5. Often we do not take time to sort out the true meaning of the most common words. This is a very significant word. This word "MYSTERY" is taken from the Greek word "musterion" which means, "to shut the mouth, a secret or ‘mystery’ through the idea of silence imposed by initiation into religious rites." Now we can begin to understand what is happening today. People are not allowed to bring forth the truth. The truth is suppressed. The Bible is taken out of the school; humanism is taught in its place.

Only a few years back, the Word of God was the final authority in our government, our Constitution, our Supreme Court, and in our schools. Now the mystery is the shutting of the mouth of truth. The truth is being suppressed. The MYSTERY BABYLON is in control. How would it be possible, otherwise, that people with such a degree of education as we see today cannot understand that there is a God? How could it be that they cannot understand that a conception is a human being?

In a recent article, I read of a woman who had had two abortions before realizing the truth of the matter. She overheard the statement, "I have to go into the other room and make sure all the pieces are there." A light turned on. What pieces were they talking about? It was supposed to be just a blob of tissue, and now they wanted to be sure all the pieces were there?

Before the third abortion, she realized this thing so prevalently referred to as a fetus is, in fact, a human being with a separate and independent life of its own. Even at that early age, there were arms and legs, etc. They talk of a fetus as just a tissue to keep the truth from being known. The truth may not prevail. That is the MYSTERY BABYLON. It is a secret through silence imposed by initiation into religious rite. You see, in the churches today, you are not allowed to be outspoken by setting forth the Word of God as your evidence of truth.

Not long ago, an article in the newspaper told of honorable men being put out of the church because they came against homosexuality. Oh, that’s old fashioned. The men were silenced and put out of the church because they opposed same sex marriages and lesbians in the pulpit. Therein lies the MYSTERY BABYLON. The mystery of confusion is that they are being silenced.

The Apostle Paul’s reference to this "mystery" is probably the best explanation we can find. It is in 2THES 2:7 and 10, "For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way." Verse 10 says, "And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved." Do you see where the mystery of iniquity comes in? The truth is suppressed.

Do you understand why there is such a state of confusion? The Lord says, "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient" ROM 1:28. They have a mind void of good judgment. From Genesis 11, we learn about Babel; the Lord came down and pronounced confusion upon the world.

It makes a person’s heart tremble to see how it multiplies and spreads. It invades politics when men use character assassination to defeat anyone who promotes Christianity and family values, and is against abortions and homosexuality. Our mass media promotes lies in many areas to hide the truth from the public. The Lord has allowed these things to take place. Why? Not because the world denounces the Word of God, but because the church, those who profess to be the church of Christ, defy God’s Word and authority. They are the ones who say two people of the same gender can be united in holy matrimony, or a lesbian can preach from their pulpit. The Lord has sent confusion to rule their lives as He did in GEN 11:7, "Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech." This state of confusion is God’s judgement upon Satan’s counterfeit church today.

The "mystery of iniquity" is enough to blow the human mind. How can people sanction such iniquity? We must understand one thing. When Satan is sitting on the throne of the heart, everything that is sacred will be debased. I will give you two illustrations of this principle. The love union between a man and his wife is sacred; it is the symbol of the union between Christ and His church. Think how debased it has become. A man rapes a woman and beats her to death after what he calls "making love." Another example is a crucifix placed in a container of urine. For what reason? It is to debase the cross of Christ because it is sacred. To add insult to injury, our taxpayer’s money is used as an endowment to produce this as an art.

Confusion! Why? The church has forsaken the Lord. It is not because the world has forsaken the Lord. The world never was with the Lord. The church is not walking under the authority of the Word of God. There must be repentance and a turning back to the Lord for the mystery of iniquity to be revealed and dealt with truthfully.

The mystery of iniquity involves all professing Christians who want to claim salvation through the blood of Christ, but do not want to preach the whole counsel of God? How many churches do you find that want to preach the whole counsel of God? We need to read JER 23:21-22, "I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings." Those who profess to be the ministers of the gospel of Christ should cause people to hear God’s Word and turn from their evil ways. Instead, many preach peace, peace through the blood of the cross, but they ignore repentance. Without repentance, there is no gospel because that is where the gospel of Christ begins.

The Apostle Paul said in ROM 1:16-17, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith."

What is revealed in the gospel of God but the righteousness of God? In the righteousness of God, if rightly understood, He gave His own Son, Who came down and humbled Himself unto death, even the death of the cross. He humbled Himself and became obedient. We must not overlook that fact. He humbled Himself and became obedient, Cf. PHI 2:8. Why? There on the cross, the wrath of God upon sin was poured out. That is what we are saying in the preaching of the gospel. God was so wroth with sin that before He would let one sin go unpunished, He would send His own Son to pay the penalty of that sin. Then, if we are given a faith’s view to see our bleeding, dying Saviour in the Garden of Gethsemane and upon the cross, appeasing God’s wrath upon the sins of those believers who truly repent, we realize [if we have salvation in Christ] that it was our sins that hung Him there. As the Lord Jesus hung upon the cross, He said, "Forgive them..." Forgive whom? Repenting sinners! Why? It was their sins that hung Him there. If we learn to understand a portion of that, then we begin to understand what it is to preach the righteousness of God that is revealed in the gospel. We will understand why the Lord Jesus began His gospel with a call to repent. MAT 4:17 says, "From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."

When we understand the gospel, the righteousness of God that is revealed in His Word, then sin becomes so exceedingly sinful, Cf. ROM 7:13. It was to appease God’s wrath upon the sin of His true repenting bride that He suffered. We begin to understand the sinfulness of sin and the wrath of God upon sin. When we understand that, then we comprehend why Jesus said, "Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." In other words, come into the service of God today. Stop serving sin; stop serving self. See how wroth God is with sin? Now sin becomes so sinful. If the righteousness of God is faithfully preached in the gospel, then God’s wrath upon sin, which is revealed therein, will mandate the gospel to begin where Jesus began--with a call to repentance.

The ugly monster Satan, who is the prince of this world, must be dethroned from the throne of our hearts. We must see Christ enthroned upon our hearts, and then we come into His kingdom and into His service.

All those who "received not the love of the truth" about repentance or the law of the gospel are preaching the doctrines of Balaam. The truth that must be brought forth in the gospel is the wrath of God upon sin and upon those who will not receive the love of God’s truth. Those who follow the doctrines of Balaam are identified in 2PE 2:15, "Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness."

If you and I rightly understand that the righteousness of God is revealed in the gospel, we will see His wrath upon sin preached in the atonement of Christ. The atonement of Christ was made for the purpose of reconciling a Holy God with hell deserving sinners. This doctrine of reconciliation is clearly twofold! See what we read in 2CO 5:19, "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation." This atoning work of Christ was to open the way for reconciliation from God’s side. However, it does not end there! Reconciliation must come from both sides! 2CO 5:20 says, "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God."

As long as we remain in our rebellion against the blessed revealed will of God, we have no claim to salvation. ROM 6:15-16 says, "What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?"

Once we understand that, we cannot preach the doctrines of Balaam without repentance. We cannot preach pardon through the blood of the cross to a person who continues to live in and cherish sin. That preaching is the MYSTERY BABYLON; it is the confusion found in REV 17:5 where we read, "And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." That is the doctrine of the damned; they preach only a half truth. A half truth is a lie.

One may well ask, how is it possible for a professing church to condone such iniquity within the church today, and silence those who speak against it? How is it possible? The answer becomes clearer when we understand 2THESS 2:10-12, "And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. [They do not love the truth; they do not love the gospel of repentance.] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness." What is the truth? It is the Word of God! It is the gospel of repentance.

Except that God sends them a strong delusion, it would be impossible for rational people to think they could cherish sin, live in it, and still be saved by the blood of Christ. Do not be quick to agree with those who ask if you believe in eternal security. Today’s modern philosophy is that if you just accept Jesus, you are eternally secure, even though you continue in sin. This is the doctrine of Balaam. See what he said in NUM 23:10b, "Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!"

Why was it that Balaam did not die the death of the righteous? It was because he did not live the life of the righteous! REV 2:14 says, "But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication." If we think we are eternally secure, but go right back to our old ways of wallowing in sin, we believe the doctrine of Balaam; and our last end shall be like his. "Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core," JUD 1:11.

God’s Word teaches eternal security. However, you must ask, "Where does it begin?" It began before the foundation of the world as we see in EPH 1:4, "According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love." That is where eternal security begins. To what did He choose us? It is to holiness. EPH 1:5-6 says, "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved." We are accepted, predestined to holiness. Everyone wants to be predestined to heaven, but they don’t want to be predestined to holiness.

Do I believe in eternal security? Oh, yes! I believe the Lord loved me before He even created the world. I believe the Lord will uphold me and carry me. I believe where he began a good work, He will carry it on until the day of Jesus Christ, and He will work sanctification in my heart. I believe He will work in me to will and do of His good pleasure, Cf. PHI 2:13. There is the evidence of my predestination. Those who want to claim eternal security as a shield so they can wallow in sin are those who "...for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie [They will actually believe that they are be saved!]: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

All of this confusion begins with a divided heart. The doctrines of Balaam are based on a divided heart. They want the rich blessings, but they love unrighteousness. They want the best of both worlds, and to claim it, they speak like Satan with a forked tongue.

ROM 1:21-24 says, "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened...Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves." The Lord sent this judgement of confusion because they loved not the truth. Now you can see the confusion. Can you picture anything more confusing than two people of the same gender engaging in sex? Any person with a sound mind would label it insanity. It is the confusion God sends as a reward because they did not glorify Him as God even though they knew God. They did not love the truth.

Oh, how many people are double minded! They try to serve two masters. They serve the God of self for all fleshly pleasure, and the God of heaven to escape the consequences of their sin. To serve both is the doctrine of Balaam. They want to come under the blood of Christ for eternal security, but they still love the wages of unrighteousness. That is the state of confusion of our day.

When we walk with a double standard and a divided heart, we shall find ourselves led into captivity to serve the king of Babylon, i.e., the king of confusion in the climax of anxiety. We will find no peace if we walk contrary to the will of God. A state of confusion will exist. When we turn our back on the Lord, the king of confusion becomes our king.

When we walk in the single eye concept, i.e., in the fear of the Lord, we shall understand DEU 33:27-29, "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them." When we walk in godly fear and repentance and the ways of the Word of God, then we will understand what it is to have the eternal God as our refuge. The everlasting arms will uphold us, but we are to thrust out the enemy.

Who is the enemy? Nebuchadnezzar, that king of Babylon, i.e., the king of confusion, must be thrust out. All the confusion comes to an end for those who understand what it is to serve the Lord.

Today, the Lord leads so many people into captivity to serve the king of confusion. This is God’s judgment for rebellion as we see in JER 3:25. "We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us [Why?]: for we have sinned against the LORD our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God." The Lord sends this state of confusion. Bickering, fighting, self-exultation is the result of walking against the will of God. When we come into submission to the will of God and the law of love, we will begin to walk in the footsteps of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then we understand that the eternal God is our refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. Read again JER 3:25. There is no question about it. Disobedience and rebellion lead to serving the king of confusion.

In the history of the world, when was there more confusion than there is today? Anxiety and confusion are overwhelming the world. The Lord said in JER 7:19, "Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?" The Lord is saying that for disobeying His will and walking against His Word, He sends confusion. Are they trying to provoke the Lord to anger? No. He is one step ahead of them by sending confusion.

In our nation today, there is more prosperity, food, and comforts than any other culture has ever known; yet, there is more anxiety, uncertainty, and confusion than any time before this. It is against human reasoning that people should do some of the things they do in this state of confusion. The Lord gives us an example in ISA 49:15, "Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee."

Remember the mystery I explained earlier. Keeping quiet, not telling the truth, pressuring others to be quiet is a fraud on the nation, a fraud on the world. This fraud is saying that little child in the womb is nothing but a piece of tissue. As a result, the womb has become the most dangerous place on earth. Millions a year are being slain in the womb. If one or two hundred thousand are slain in a war, people stand in awe to think of the bloodshed. More murders take place in the womb than any other place on earth. God designed the womb as the safest place on earth, but confusion has made it the most dangerous.

By whom are the children being slain? It is done by the wish of their own mother. Isn’t that the height of confusion? Is it possible that a mother will not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes. When Israel was in Egypt, the king of Egypt commanded that their children should be slain, but the state of confusion the Lord has sent for those who love not the truth makes it possible for a mother to murder her own child in her own womb.

Where does all this confusion come from? 2THESS 2:3-4 says, "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition." Who is the man of sin? It is the ugly monster, "I," who rules in the heart of man; it is the son of perdition. When you or I no longer love the truth, we are able to turn our back upon the living God.

God does not send the judgment of confusion until there is first this falling away from the love of the truth. No person who walks according to the will of God will live in the confusion which is the curse of those who love not the truth. Who is this son of perdition? In 2THESS 2:4 we read, "Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God."

It is the ugly monster, "I;" it is the humanistic teaching of today that proclaims we have the right to choose and do what we decide is right, and we can be exalted. Where did this idea begin? It began in the Garden of Eden when Satan tempted Eve so she would be as God, knowing good and evil. In other words, she could chose what is right and what is wrong. When that takes place, when that begins to be the rule of our life, we live in confusion.

The apostle Paul said this son of perdition, i.e., "the mystery of iniquity doth already work," verse 7, in the church in his day. It is not something that will happen at a certain time in the future when a certain person in a certain time will sit in a certain chair. It is the ugly monster of self that wants to exalt himself above God to decide for himself what is right and what is wrong.

This falling away begins when our love of the truth begins to wax cold by compromising God’s Word. Our nation was founded upon Godly principles; our leaders and our courts upheld the Word of God. Our nation was truly "One nation under God." As the result, it became the greatest nation on earth. The Word of God was taught in the schools, and it was the basis of Supreme Court decisions. Laws were made according to the Word of God, and if they failed this test, our courts struck them down. Our nation became great. Now this nation has turned; it has put away the Word of God. What happened? God has sent His wrath from heaven and has allowed confusion to rule in this nation.

Through compromise, our world has been led into captivity to serve the king of confusion, i.e., that "...MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH," REV 17:5. MYSTERY BABYLON rules the world today. THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS is the abomination of the earth.

As a result of compromising the Word of God, "the mystery of iniquity" now works confusion in the world. Let’s ponder what Jesus taught us. Jesus spoke of the anxiety that shall dominate the world in this time of confusion in LUK 21:25-26. "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; [Do you know what the word ‘perplexity,’ means? It is taken from the Greek word, ‘Aporia,’ which means ‘to have no way out, to be at a loss mentally, perplexed.’ It is to come to a point of despair.] the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear [Anxiety is fear for the future.], and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken."

Those who profess to be Christians see what is coming upon the face of the earth and are perplexed. Those who are truly Christian are not living in perplexity and anxiety. The professed Christians are the MYSTERY BABYLON. They are the ones who will not allow the truth to prevail. They teach peace, peace, peace through the blood of the cross while they still love the wages of sin. Without any repentance, their hearts will fail them for fear of the things taking place on the earth.

The Lord Jesus tells us this will come in the last days. Anxiety, perplexity, and confusion will reach a climax. What we see in the world today is a result of unbelief and compromising the Word of God. It is the result of spiritual adultery, serving the god of perdition, i.e., self.

When our courts struck down the Word of God as the authority of this nation, when our lawmakers no longer had to take an oath stating they believed in the Lord Jesus Christ before they could hold public office, and when humanism started being taught as the religion of our nation in the schools, we began to see the perplexities mounting up. We see confusion reigning as the result of unbelief. Unbelief is standing in open contempt of the courts of heaven. It is the result of spiritual adultery and serving the god of perdition, the god of self.

True peace, true freedom from anxiety, can only be found in freedom from self. As long as people serve the ugly monster of self, they will be serving the king of confusion. There is only one place a person can come to true freedom from anxiety. True peace can only be found when we are delivered from "self," and come to faith in God as the God of our life.

We read of the one place we can find peace in ISA 26:3-4, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength." What does it mean to be kept in perfect peace? It does not mean the circumstances change. We will continue to live in the same confusing world, but it is to have perfect peace within this state of confusion. We are able to accept it all as from the hand of the Lord, knowing that we can trust in Him. He will supply our every need, and the gates of hell cannot prevail against us. That produces perfect peace because our minds are stayed upon Him, and we trust in Him.

Those who fear the Lord have liberty; where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Liberty from what? Liberty from the king of confusion. We do not have to live in anxiety and frustration and turmoil. The Lord Jesus said in JOH 17:15, "I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil." We live in this confusing world; we can see the confusion about us, but it does not rule in our hearts.

Isn’t that a blessed contrast to what we just read in LUK 21:26 about men’s hearts failing them for fear, being in perplexity, looking after those things which are coming upon the face of the earth? The contrast is "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee because he trusteth in thee." Does that mean one can also serve self and love the wages of unrighteousness and love not the truth? No, they are the ones who love the truth and have a desire to do the will of God because they love Him. It is done out of love, not a slavish fear.

Perfect peace is what the Lord promises for those who trust in Him in a total surrender to His will in faith. What is faith? Some say it means that one believes. Is that enough? See what we read in JAM 2:19 about believing. "Thou believes that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble." You believe, and you don’t even tremble. Is it enough to believe? No! Verse 20 says, "But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?" When we talk about faith, what are we talking about? We are talking about our walk of life. How can people separate their faith and their walk of life? It is blasphemy and mockery to claim to have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ while serving the god of this world. Having faith means an individual understands that his walk of life is the exercise of that faith.

JAM 2:21 goes on to tell us, "Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?" Abraham’s obedience was the very instrument whereby justification was imparted unto him. If we want to have peace with God, we must understand this principle. Those who understand what it is to enter the kingdom of heaven, i.e., to come into the service of our Lord and stop serving self and the king of confusion, shall be able to trust all their cares to our loving, heavenly Father.

As we enter the kingdom of heaven, i.e., as we come into the service of the Lord, we will understand 1PE 5:6-8, "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." Think about the meaning of humble yourselves. PHI 2:8 says, "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient...." To humble ourselves means to come into subjection to the will of God. It means to have our will totally dissolved in the will of God.

Jesus is appealing to our reason and logic in LUK 12:25-26, "And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?" There is no room for anxiety. The word cubit means the distance between the hand and elbow, a half a step. Who by taking thought can add half a step to his life span? If you can’t add even half a step to your life span by all the thought and anxiety, why not trust in the Lord?

Jesus is saying to those who have crucified that son of perdition, i.e., that old man of sin, if you can’t do the least thing to provide for yourself, why don’t you trust God for all your provisions? Why have such anxiety and live in perplexity when a heart trusting in the Lord can eliminate the confusion? We can trust Him for our all.

MAT 6:24-25 says, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?"

The Apostle Paul gives us such a blessed example of the heart’s desire of those who love the truth in PHI 3:8-10, "Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death." Amen.
